Case Description
Hello, I have a toothache in a tooth that had a bad root canal done several years ago which later was corrected by an oral surgeon a a couple of years after that (no crown was put on, though. The tooth is badly broken now and probably needs extraction). I am 4 months pregnant and don't wish to do anything to harm the pregnancy but also want to take care of the tooth in case it is infected and could harm the baby. I am also experiencing bleeding when I floss. Would like to find a dentist near Floral Park comfortable/experienced with working with pregnant women.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I agree with you that you should take care of your urgent dental needs asap. treatment should also include a thorough evaluation of your gums to determine the cause of your bleeding. It is common during pregnancy to develop some bleeding and swelling of the gums and most of the time it is associated with hormonal changes. We commonly refer to this as "pregnancy gingivitis" This is absolutely normal and can be controlled with frequent cleanings. Although this is true, you should rule out other causes of bleeding such as periodontal disease. At Bayside Smile Design, we routinely treat patients who are pregnant . We do require ob/gyn clearance prior to extensive treatment. Due to the nature of our practice, we do not participate with most insurances but will gladly submit forms on your behalf for reimbursement. If you would like further information or desire to reserve a time for a comprehensive evaluation, please call us at 718-428-7474. Good LuckJerry Vitale, DMDwww.baysidesmiledesign.com
