Case Description
had a rehab done 1 yr. ago to address vertical dimension, some attrition(Class 2 Malocclusion) I have been left with no occlusal scheme(had a tech scan done) pain and teeth in the upper arch so loose they are depressable.Bite feels so awkward, teeth and jaw , ears hurt every day, have to eat soft diet - cant use 4 front teeth they are that loose. Also terrible esthetics, black triangles, black margins and unnatural tooth colr. Took this to the local dental soc. for peer review, they found work within the standard of care. Meanwhile, every dentist i have seen since, inc, tmj doc and other specialists are outraged. seems i have no recourse, and out of money - do you work left unfinished and of poor quality is ethically acceptable? this cost me 32k! My life is a nightmare now!

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Well it certainly does sound like a nightmare.

There is always recourse even if peer review SAYS it is within normal treatment. If as you say other dentists during consult are telling you it is NOT up to the standard of care, then it probably isnt.

Of course I have no reference point of what you started with, but it sounds as if there were some periodontal issues BEFORE you started treatment. Having teeth that are so loose you cant eat solid foods sounds as if you need several extractions.

You live quite far from my office, but if you do come down to NYC I can evaluate your case

Dear Patient:

You need to go see a Prosthodontist. Situations such as yours require special training and understanding. Prosthodontists get the advanced training to understand the physiology of your situation. The university of Bufallo has a Post-Graduate department in the specialty of Prosthodontics. Contact them. If you can afford private practice then www.prosthodontics.org will have a "find a prosthodontist" link. It is the website of the American College of Prosthodontics. Please go to the specialist to try and get your life in order.

It would be my pleasure to see you, if you can work out the travel.

Best wishes.

Your consumers position is understandable. You are the "victim".

But allow my to ask you: Who choose your dentist for you before you decided to spend 32K? You sound like a pretty knowledgeable consumer. The work you describe is can not be done in 1 or 2 visits. Or your assumption that every dentist has to be the same is correct? Finally, what are you looking for post factum. Or do you thing someone can help you without any money? Who can take responsibility for the financial expenses? Or you can imagine a charity in the amount of 32k possible?!!!

Please visit my web and read through.

If you will find it interesting please call me.

It will be my pleaser to help you out if you decide.( but, no charity please)

Best regards and

Good luck with your decision.
