Case Description
I believe when my upper right wisdom tooth came in months ago, it had a cavity, which has almost completely decayed the tooth down to the gum. For the last week or so it has been incredibly painful, but I do not have insurance and, embarrassingly, have not been to a dentist in many many many years. As well I think it has caused the filling in the molar next to it to fall out. I know it's Friday, but it's quite painful and I would love to get it fixed as soon as possible and I don't know which procedure I need...

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I can see you as an emergency either tonight or tomorrow morning (more likely) in midtown Manhattan, understand it is Friday night and a major storm is coming. The only way I will come in is if I have an iron clad agreement that you will be there as if I have to go out in that weather for you, leaving my own family. For an emergency visit, x-ray, and surgical extraction of the wisdom tooth, a minimum of $515. No personal checks. Probably more. And whatever needs to be done for relief of pain in the neighboring tooth, if necessary. Your other option is to go to the emergency room. And I strongly suggest you make a commitment to take care of your own health in the future.
