Once again after years of mediocre to incompetent dental treatment in NYC ever since my brother who practiced general,excellent dentistry then (and later founded the International Academy of Orthodontics) moved to California forty-five years ago,D.Poiman (and his staff) treated me like family and with the highest level of competent,creative use of the latest techniques and technology.I had painless,caring treatment from injection to fillings from Dr,Poiman whom I have nicknamed Michelangelo as a tribute to his special artistic talents that really deserve the title Esthetic Dentistry, a commentary based upon seventy-nine years of knowledgeable observation.

I loved my experience here. Everyone is extremely nice and friendly. Being from out of state I was very nervous about getting a new dentist but I'm very happy with my choice. The receptionists are very personable and kind. I was very impressed they remembered me by name before I even checked in! Dr Poiman is GREAT...besides the fact that we went to school in the same city... ; ) His confidence and know-how makes me feel confident that he knows what he's doing and is offering the best options without pressure.

I had one filling and it was pain free! The office is very clean and comfortable.

So far so good! I'm sticking with Dr. Poiman

I think Dr. Poiman is fantastic as well! I really hate going to the dentist (also after some bad experiences) but he really makes it pleasant to be there. He does excellent work, everyone is very nice and I trust him to take care of my teeth. I even passed up moving over to my husband's insurance because Dr. Poiman wasn't on the plan. Several of my co-workers also go to him and really like him as well. I would recommend him to anyone in NYC who needs a good dentist.

Dr Poiman is very good. I feel that my teeth are in competent hands. His office runs very smoothly and calmly. It does feel like a spa right down to the hot towel after your cleaning. My only complaint is that there's no massage.

Dr. Poiman and his staff so obviously care about their patients, and exercise their care with the newest technology (fill out forms online before you get there, lasers, computer x-ray, crazy epoxies, etc.). They take time to answer all questions, make sure you are in the highest possible comfort, and that you know how to take care of yourself to avoid future issues. Dr. Poiman seemed personally invested in my own well being. Plus, everyone there has an enjoyable sense of humor.

I can gladly say I left with more teeth than I came in with.

Dr. Poiman is great! I started seeing him about 4 or 5 years ago and I have been very pleased with the services I have received in his office.

He has taken excellant care of my teeth. He replaced all my old silver fillings with white ones. He managed to painlessly fill a few deep cavities I had in my mouth and his care and recommendations (Sonicare toothbrush and custom-made night guard ) have improved the overall health of my gums.

I have recommended Dr.Poiman to a few of my co-workers and they think he is great too.

I recently saw Dr. Poiman as a new patient, and I have to say it was my best dental experience ever. Dr. Poiman is a great dentist very knowleagable in his field and is very detailed in his work. He did a couple of fillings on me and I have to say that I didn't feel a thing. His assistants are very nice girls. And the young gentleman in the front who I believe is his office manager is extremely friendly & attentive,and very knowleagable with anything that has to do with insurance. I LOVE Dr. Poiman. He always has your best interests at heart, such as saving teeth as opposed to pulling them. I have a big fear of anything dental after a couple of bad experiences. From the first visit that I had with him, which was a VERY bad emergency visit, he was nothing but concerned and gentle. I had a cyst attached to the roots of one tooth that caused a serious infection. He did everything to try and save the tooth. He even called me at home the next day to see how I was feeling, which was a huge shock. I recommend him to everyone I know, because I have never met a better dentist in my life.

I am a 50 year old that has extreme fear of the dentist. I did my research and chose Dr.Poiman. One reason was the use of gas. Novacaine never seems to make me numb and I always felt pain from the dentist. Other dentists telling me to suffer through the pain.

Today I was in the chair for over 90 minutes as he rebuilt a stub of a tooth that had already had a root canal. I was very anxious and did not sleep well the night before.

He is a perfectionist. His work is excellent. Another dentist would have pulled the tooth, he saved it. Great expereince.

No pain either. His staff is great.

He is located on 57th street ,his office is beautiful and he uses advanced equipment including a laser. This all leads to a higher cost, but it is worth it.

About Hygienist: The hygienist makes or breaks the office for me. She is a treat. The best one I have ever encounted. I am very happy

Getting fillings is almost a pleasure at Dr. Poiman's. It truly is pain-free. I walked out of there with three fillings and was able to eat lunch immediately. No swollen gums and cheeks!

About Hygienist: Each time I've been there I've had a different hygienist, all who have been wonderful. However, I recommend Dolores very highly. She did a very thorough job, the best I've ever experienced. She is very good at her job and also happens to be a cheerful, friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. Best of all, it didn't hurt a bit!

Dr Poiman is an incredible dentist - the one you are looking for. I had serious problems with 10+ cavities per year and no one could help me. I went to Dr. Poiman and he figured out the bacteria in my saliva are much worse in terms of cavity than most other people. With special mouthwashes and other treatments we are working to solve this problem

Dr Poiman also diagnosed my problems with Teeth Grinding and has created a very clear multi-step plan to solve this problem too.

Finally, I have had cavities filled by Dr. Poiman and it is a dream come true. If you are a person (like me) who simply can't stand needles and drills - then Dr. Poiman is the dentist for you. It is literally criminal that there aren't more dentists who invest in and use the latest laser technology. I used to have extra novacaine (two shots instead of one or three instead of two) and I just had two cavities done with Dr Poiman WITH NO NOVACAINE AT ALL! THE WATERLASE IS REALLY THAT GOOD! He says that he will have to numb me for the absolute worst of cavities, but I can live with that. I promise that if you go to Dr Poiman you will switch dentists because he is just the best there is (I have seen over 5 dentists in the last year!) for every patient

She help Dr. P at every point in the procedures and ensures that everything gets done as quickly and smoothly as possible. I began seeing Dr. Poiman approximately 2 years ago. I left my last dentist when he wanted to charge me $1600 and give me a gold cap for one of my rear teeth because it had a slight crack. I did not feel like I wanted a big gold tooth in my mouth and it sounded very expensive.

As soon as I got to Dr. Poiman's office, I was called to come in the back. Even today, I have never waited more than 5 minutes! He looked at the tooth that the other dentist wanted to cover in gold. Instead, he filed down the tooth that touched the cracked tooth when I chewed so as to alleviate the contact. We then watched it for approximately 2 years. Recently, Dr. Poiman informed me that the crack had gotten bigger and he recommended changing the filling. He explained it all to me. When I came in for the appointment, I had just bent my knees to begin to sit down when I was called to the back. I am NOT a big fan of the dental chair. I hate having all that stuff in my mouth, I hate the sounds of the equipment and I despise the feeling of my saliva spraying all over my face. Anyway, believe it or not, I FELL ASLEEP duing the procedure and I got local anesthetic only!!

What more can I say - the doc is operating at the very top of the profession.

I can't praise Dr. Poiman enough. He's simply the best Dentist I've ever had. When I first came to him, I had some pretty bad problems with my gums. Dr Poiman treated me, and less than 6 months later, it's like I never had any problems at all!

In addition to being one of the kindest people I've ever met, he's honest, and never uses any pressure at all. I'll never forget the time I found out I needed to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I was feeling nervous and unsure about it, and I told him how I felt. Before I left his office, he actually came out to the waiting room, sat down next to me, and talked to me like I was family.

I actually look forward to going to the dentist now (almost) every six months, because he and his staff are friendly, professional and accessible. Due to a bad experience, I avoided the dentist. Some might call me a "Dental Phobe." I finally decided to go and found Dr. Poiman on Dr. Oogle.

I made an appointment and was very nervous. I live about 1/2 hour away. My first & second visits confirmed two things: (1) I needed work done, and (2) Dr. Pioman and his staff are the best!

Dr. Poiman is supremely professional, pleasant, gentle, and great at what he does. I have 100% trust in him and have no more fear of the dentist. I am actually looking forward to getting my situation in order.

His office and staff make you feel relaxed as well. There are no loud noises, people running around, or crowds in the waiting room.

As far as cost, I want the job done right, not who who might be the cheapest. If you want quality and a good experience, go to Dr. Pioman. If you want the cheapest around, go somewhere else and you will get what you pay for.

Although I need more work done, which is due to my neglect, I no longer fear the dentist and Dr. Poiman is the 100% right person for the job. He is as good as it gets.

If you are like me and fear the dentist, see Dr. Poiman. I can't thank him and his office enough for how they have treated me so far.

Setting up an appointment on the phone is aweful. I did not get anyone getting back to me within 24 hours as their admin stated. Normal offices schedule appointments on the phone at the time of the call.

This office used to have a normal phone-call practice, but things definitely took a turn for the worst!!!!

Finding an honest dentist in New York is truly like finding a needle in a haystack. After visiting several dentists in the area for a consulation on porcelain veneers, I was left totally confused and concerned with the procedure, costs, and their medical and cosmetic ability. Then, I met Dr. Poiman and his wonderful staff. He took the time to explain everything to me, answered all of my millions of questions, and resolved my uneasiness. I've been rather wary about finding a dentist in the city. It seems like it could be easy to make a bad choice. I'm really glad that I found Dr. Poiman. The office is comfortable and modern, with touches of personality sprinkled throughout. The staff was kind and checked to make sure that I was OK throughout my cleaning and check-up. I have had a very difficult time finging a dentist for the past two years so I decided if I ignored my teeth, they would go away.

Then I realized I had no choice but to go to the dentist and a dentist visit was on the top of my "Fear List".

Dr. Poiman is excellent at what he does, his staff are courteous and competant, and they don't make you wait around for your appointment- I saw Dr. Poiman exactly when I was scheduled to see him. Another dentist had said I needed expensive and painful surgery prior to getting a crown put on my tooth, but Dr. Poiman was able to do it without the surgery- saving me hundreds of dollars. After being frustrated by the poor service I encounted with a number of dentists in the NYC area, I couldn't be more happy with Dr. Poiman.

Dr. Poiman replaced my former dentist Dr. Hagani who relocated his practice and I thought I would never find another great dentist in this area but boy was I wrong. Dr. Poiman is a very professional dentist who truly cares about your teeth. I basically feel no pain and needles are no longer necessary with his laser dentistry. No more pain or numbness after a filling that's great for me! I love to smile so it's important that I keep my teeth in tip top shape! His staff always greets you with a smile and are very helpful. Dr. Poiman took over the practice from my former dentist, and I visited him for one cleaning. He said that one of my fillings was cracked, and would I like to refilled right then and there. I went for it, and he used the laser drill with no novocaine. I was hugely impressed, the laser drill is revolutionary!! More pleasant than a simple cleaning. I told everyone I knew!

The cost of the laser filling was much more than a conventional one (perhaps twice as much? I am fortunate that I rarely need fillings, so I can't remember what they should cost.) But it was 10 times more comfortable to get it done, plus the convenience of not needing to return for another visit. I have since learned that not all fillings are doable with the laser method, but get it if you can. Also, as I said, I rarely need fillings, so I find it somewhat odd that he found a bad filling on my first visit. But still no regrets.

I have always dreaded going to the dentist, but now I don't so much. It is actually not bad at all, they have always gotten me in on time, were efficient in the chair, friendly, and I agree, they only tell you you need work done when you actually need it done. I have had one cavity with filled with the laser treatment and I will never go back to the old way. Not having the novicane shot was priceless, and even though I am a big wuss with pain, I can honestly say that it was not really painful, only the normal discomfort of having your mouth open and instruments and hands moving and bumping around.

I went to Dr Poiman for a second opinion and boy am I glad I did! Dr. Poiman saved me from spending several hundred dollars of unnecessary dental treatments (which is especially important since I am only a student with horrible dental insurance).

I found Dr Poiman to be understanding and knowledgeable. What I like most about him is that he is not a scam artist. His assistants are also very nice and understanding.

Even though I don't have health insurance, I am going back again for more dental work because I know that I am not throwing my money away. I think I have found my dentist!

Dr. Poiman is definitely the BEST doctor I ever had! Two years ago I had a car accident; the driver fell asleep and drove into a building. My front upper tooth was broken. Over two years three doctors tried fixing it, and none of them could get the results that Dr. Poiman got. Nobody would ever think that something had happen to that tooth. I have to second that re. Michelle. I found out about this dentist through an endodentist referral (Dr Dayani, whose assistant was also fabulous, and who has rave reviews). I was able to get some first-rate information from Michelle that contributed toward me getting Dr Poiman as a second (or third) opinion. After initially being told I needed a root canal, I was able through Michelle and these two doctors' patience, and my own vigilance, to bypass that diagnosis and get a crafty molar filling with no stress. The tooth stayed and the dentist said he could not even see the root just before it was filled. It was actually sculpted into a different tooth. Michelle talked me through a number of potential issues before I even came to the office but then, when I was there, talked extensively with me in a way that only boosted my confidence in the dentist. Dr Poiman spent the first consultation just talking to me - how many dentists would do that ? And explaining his approach to dentistry, which I found refreshing. Thanks to all involved - Ms Bourke.
