Patient Review 1:

Dr Lim has done a bridge, a molar extraction and a couple of fillings for me. At first I asked him why an extraction if I'm in no pain. He explained that if the decay gets worse under that crown I lost it could affect the glands and nerves. Other dentists often fail to mention that or understand it. He has state of the art equipment, uses laser, and his work is more pain free than any dentist I've seen prior to him. His hygienist also does excellent work with deep cleaning. He puts his patients at ease and has integrity. He's not cheap, but you get what you pay for and I do subscribe to a discount plan that he participates in and that does help. I have recommended him to a couple of friends

After many painful years of dental treatment (1958-2004) yes childhood braces, needless surgeries,extractions,root canals,crowns, etc, I went to the NYU school of dentistry. Seated in the implant clinic, I overheard 2 student doctors ( in their 20's ) state "why would she want implants, she's almost 50". I was 47yrs old at the time. Humiliated & embarrassed I never returned. Worse I couldn't remember the last time I had the courage to smile, due to prior poor dental work. lack of finances. I then found Dr.Stephen Lim & his associate Dr.Wayne Kye on this website. Much like Michael Angelo & DaVinci whom as scientists, greatly advanced their state of knowledge in the field of anatomy. Dr.'s Lim & Kye are experts in the evaluation, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area. Dr.Lim and Dr.Kye were able to reconstruct my (upper teeth ) smile. They have truly found their destined paths to greatness. They have paved their road to success with their kind & professional demeanor. *_*

If I had known of this website, I would've written about Dr. Lim ages ago! I've had several different DDS's in the past, and there is no comparison - he is the BEST around. When you think of dental appointments, ppl often grimace, but he almost makes you look forward to getting dental work done! He has state-of-the-art equipment, including x-rays using computers so you don't have to wait for the "film" to get developed. He also has this machine that looks like it's right out of Star Trek that takes an x-ray of your whole mouth at once! And when I needed to get a part of my tooth enamel bonded (b/c of sensitivity), he showed me an educational video clip to better explain what was going on. I loved the numbing agent used on my gums before the needle was injected, too. And throughout the time I got my filling done, he asked if I felt any pain. All of this shows his bedside-manner: he is a caring dentist!! So there's no compromise when you go to him. You get it all: he's knowledgeable, explains everything thoroughly, no pain, along with state-of-the-art equipment and the latest advances in dentistry. The only thing I wish is that he were closer to where I lived! But I'm willing to travel the distance because he is just that good!

I've been to Dr. Stephen Lim a couple of times for cleaning sessions, and they also prepared a nightguard for me. Everybody there is very professional and treats you with attention and respect: they spend a good amount of time with you and make sure the treatment is adequate and efficient. No fast-food treatment of patients here: they stay with you as long as necessary. I had these really deep stains on my teeth, some dentists had told me they would never go away: they removed them in 30 minutes. I highly recommend Sonya, a hygieniest they have that does a wonderful job.

Dr. Lim and his associates are by far the best dentists I've ever had. Their equipment is really new. The support staff and dental assistants are very nice. And all three dentists I've seen were very competent, helpful, cordial and thorough. They really spend a lot of time explaining different procedures and show you pics of the slides. They present all information to you, and you make the decision as to what you want to do. They are a bit more costly than other dentists I've seen before, but it is really worth it.

I've been to Dr Lim's Office for several cleanings and cavity fillings. The office is nice and clean and very high tech. The staff including Dr. Lim himself was very nice and had a lot of patience with me and my many questions; I didn't get the feeling that I was being rushed out of the office. The procedure went great. I highly recommend this dentist!!! The only con is that he might be a little pricey if you don't have dental insurance.

About Hygienist: All of the Hygienist and staff were very nice and polite. Hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth and explaining to me my problem areas.

I had a sloppy and difficult implant done on my back molar. Each time I saw a new dentist, my tooth seemed to get in even worse shape. I was really near hysteria. Then luckily someone referred me to Dr. Lim and said he did an honest and straight up job.

So what took one dentist 2 years to screw up, Dr. Lim was able to get the crown to work and it only took 3 short sessions. This is the first time I can chew on this damn tooth in 2 years--heavens to betsy?!

His fees are a bit on the high side for me, but you know what, I learned the hard way that there are certain things you can't go cheap with, especially your health.

What should have cost me $3500 if I had done it with the right dentist ended up costing me 2 years of quality of life and more than double the price due to two years of screws up.

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lim about 48 hours ago. Needless to say, I was pretty scared of the procedure. Like all of the other reviews (accurately) state, Dr. Lim is very skilled and has a very calm demeanor that is quite disarming. The teeth were removed using local anesthetic and was relatively pain-free. One of the teeth was pretty impacted and took a while but Dr. Lim did an excellent job of removing the tooth.

I've also had a filling replaced by Dr. Lim which was a piece of cake (20 min. in and out) and he actually charged me less than they had originally quoted me.

Dr. Lim and his staff provided the best dental experience that I've had to date. That coupled with his honesty and integrity will keep me going back and recommending him to anyone that I know.

I had a root canal on my upper back tooth by Dr. Hahn. She explained things thoroughly and was very gentle. I did not feel any pain at all and I was able to go back to work right away. I did not like the piece of rubber they use to cover your mouth, but overall it was a surprisingly easy, not entirely unpleasant experience.

Amazing installations and great staff. I went for a cleaning, and although that may sound a very simple thing to do, I had a couple of bad experiences in NY. My hyginiest was Sonya, she was gentle and very thorough: I have these very stubborn stains on my teeth and she was patient and very attentive, and got rid of most of them. I'll definitely come back.

After visiting many dentist in NYC and enduring many a scary offices and hygenists, trying to find a 'good' one, I happened to find Dr. Lim's office searching the net. So, I decided to give him a try. I have to say he has been the best dentist I've ever been to -- bar-none.

Patient, sensitive to my sensitive teeth during procedures and cleanings, and always upfront about costs and insurance coverage.

Dr. Lim is an execellent dentist. He provided me with a accurate diagnosis of the pain I felt with jaw. It was an abscessed wisdom tooth which needed removing. His team used the technique known as Waterlase to assist in extracting the problem tooth and I didn't require novocaine to numb the area. After the tooth was removed, I received quality followup care.

The cost was v. reasonable as the practice accepted my insurance which saved me a lot. From others I've heard he was one of the least expensive, but must tech. saavy dentists in NYC.

The staff was courteous and helpful in dealing with the paperwork.

I could not be happier as opposed to a negative experience I had with a previous dentist.

I have always had one very crooked front tooth. As an adult, I didn't want to get showy brace and invisilign would have taken at least 2 year because my tooth was severely rotated.

Dr Lim came up with a great solution using veneers to create the appearance of straight teeth. I have a great smile now without having to wait years and all my friends who had braces are amazed with the results. Dr Lim is an artist who pays attention to the smallest details that even I would not think of. He's firm when he needs to be and he's all about what's best for his patients.

I would highly recommend Dr. Lim for cosmetic dentistry, he is by far the best of the best.

Dr Lim is an ARTIST!!! There is a stark difference between Dr. Lim and any of the rest (7) dentists I have seen. Basically he had fixed all of the problems and many of which were a result of innapropriate treatments, that I had received in the past. Not only is my (entire) mouth healthy and balanced, I also feel the beauty of my smile is totally restored! Where do I start, the office attmosphere is clean, professional and pleasant. Julie the receptionist worked out any of my concerns, and was extremely accomodating since I had a very tight time limit for all of the work. Melissa, the dental assistant is so knowlegable and makes the entire experience better, she is ready and with you. All of the little things which make a big difference. I had many differnt procedures, front crowns, caps, wisdom tooth removal, porcelain build up, and fixing of an old root canal, many cavities, cleaning and bleaching. If you want to design your own natural and beautiful look, Dr. Lim has the patience, the plan, and the perfect craftsmanship.

I had found Dr. Lim on this website. I intially looked at a New York Magazine Best of list.. The day before my appointment I googled this "so called best" he had 16 cases of BIG malpractice suits against

He replaced my old fillings (which had decay underneath) with a better composite that blends perfectly in with the other teeth. I can't wait to save up some money and get my old root canal re-done! I have built up a fear of dentistry after years of mediocre care from a variety of dentists. I think Dr. Lim and his staff have cured my fear! Everyone at Dr. Lim's office is great - they take great concern with the patient's comfort, they have all of the high-tech modern equipment, and Dr. Lim is very knowledgeable and skilled. They not only take interest in the patient, but they are careful to recognize and accommodate special needs (in my case, a specific method of injection for the anesthetic, and use of a 'bite block'). I had a filling done and a root canal with a crown, and now I am actually looking forward to fixing a few other dental problems. In addition to Dr. Lim, Julie (who handles the billing) was very helpful in explaining my treatment options, insurance coverage, and costs, and Melissa (his dental assistant) really seems like an expert. It's very comforting to know that everyone there is so competent.

I am glad I found Dr. Lim and recommend his office very highly.

Just got one of my teeth pulled , because I never visited a dentist in 8 years. I was very nervous and scared of pain, and he did everything to calm me down. I was a bit skeptical after going to 4 horrible dentists in NYC. However, based on the reviews here, I took the plunge. And I'm so glad I did. Everyone was so professional and courteous. The receptionist was very nice and accommodating. The hygienist gave me the best painfree cleaning I ever had. And Dr. Lim was very nice and thorough. Dr Stephen Lim is the best dentist i have ever been to and I ahve been to a lot. He is an NYU trained doctor but more importantly he does great work and takes insurance. He uses a laser so many things are pain free.

I had a lot of work done with him root canals, bridges tooth removal. Julie his assistan is very nice also.

he has done a new renovation and facilities are great. Nore importantly he spends time explaining my options to me and made excellent referrals I am happy with my Hollywood smile. I had a front bridge done and peopel can't tell they are not my teeth.

I wrote a negative review of Dr. Samuel Rudick's office's refusing my insurance after insisting in two office visits that they would take it, price gouging (my estimate was $7,000+), and giving me the runaround.

I wanted to follow up at Dr. Oogle, because it was here that I read the (almost suspicious) number of good reviews for Dr. Stephen Lim. Incredibly, he must deserve them all. His estimate was 1/7 the original for a worst case scenario (root canal). It turns out that only fillings (one quite large) were necessary, and everything was covered by my insurance.

He has a new high-tech office, and has invested a lot in state of the art equipment, which somehow made drilling out about 1/4 of one of my teeth a pretty quick and painless procedure. He plays calming movies (March of the Penguins!) on big networked LCD TVs while working, and was even able to pull up and discuss my estimate from their database as I sat in the chair. Not once was I pitched to for braces or whitening.

Lastly, his receptionist Julie is extremely polite, sharp, and organized, gave me straight answers, and was a lot of help working with my insurance company.

Don't think twice, these reviews are for real!

I actually didn't see Dr. Lim. I saw Dr. Michael Wong, another NYU trained doctor that works in Dr. Lim's practice. I hadnt been to the dentist in several years and have some minor fear (like many of the other posters here). Dr. Wong did a great job of explaining everything that was going on and what needed to be done.

Also, they handled all the paperwork with Metlife Dental insurance directly, which is a nice touch.

One of the reasons I picked this practice was because of their modern tools, and I'm pleased I did. The cleaning wasn't the old rubber cup and polishing compound I'm used to, but rather an ultrasonic metal pick to start, then a "sandblasting" with salt and baking powder that really left my teeth feeling clean. The digital x-ray was great as he could really adjust the contrast and brightness to be able to see what was going on and showed me everything.

I didn't rate the facility that highly (on 42nd street), but I understand that they're moving to new space soon.

All in all, I recommend Dr. Lim's practice and Dr. Wong.

Dr Lim is the best dentist i've ever had. This is my first time to write a report on a doctor as i never felt i could recommend on in the past esp. a NYC doctor. He is patient funny nice man overall. Also his receptionist Julie is also very nice and helpful. i wish all NYC doctors could be as good as him. He is a genuine human being. He also is very good at his quality of worc (sorry my ceyboard is not worcing). i would never go to another dentist again unless i had to return to my home country. Dr. Lim is an extremely skilled and caring dentist. I went in for wisdom teeth extractions and had no problem going back to work the next day. He also went out of his way to help me feel comfortable and actually had nonstandard business hours, which made it possible for me to go after work or on the weekend. It also doesn't hurt that he has these really cool dentist tools, like laser drills and digital x-rays. :)

Dr. Lim's calm personality really puts a person at ease. He's got some effective distractors--watch a movie while you get a crown, and he really tries to put you at ease. I think one thing I like best is that he knows how to deal with small children, and uses alternatives to novocaine. Julie is great, and I can always count on a reminder call from her. Also, Dr. Lim's high tech x-rays and laser drill makes me think, he knows what he's doing.

I've already been referring my friends to Dr. Lim!

Dr. Lim is really fantastic. He's friendly and seems to love teeth in just the way one hopes a dentist would. He filled three small cavities for me in a quick, painless, and affordable procedure that lasted no more than 30 minutes, in and out. His small practice boasts one especially remarkable feature in addition to his friendly staff and high-tech tools: if you go in for a cleaning, you get Dr. Lim. Having him pay me such personal attention during my visits there inspires trust in his evaluation, and once you give him the chance for a more involved procedure, you'll never go anywhere else.

I really do not like going to the dentist. I have not been in a long time. I finally went to see Dr. Lim. It was not bad at all! I had to have a bunch of fillings and it was the least painful dentist trip I have ever had. He has a cool laser drill that he can do on certain fillings and it does not hurt one bit. The receptionist is very nice and his assistant is as well.

I have a bit of a phobia when it comes to dentists. In fact, that is why, I had stayed away from one for so long. But a back tooth broke, down to the gum, and I needed to see someone. Because of the reviews on this site, I picked Dr. Lim. WOW. He was nothing like the anxiety producing moralistic dentist I had in the past. Nor was he trying to make a buck off of me: he offered to do the cheepest procedure and did not push gimicks. He filled me with calm and impressed me with his knowledge. Being young enough to know the best in dental science and old enough to be good at it, he was perfect. His X-rays are modern (an old X-ray Machine, lead to my old dentisit hitting the root of my tooth, and not realizing the damage. He sis not want to invest in a new machine), which means a lot to me. In the end, he gave me a special filling. My out of pocket cost was 85 bucks! And I was calm thoughout. Also his staff, his asst. and the women who takes information at the front desk, were not only good, not only nice, but really very sweet! I really could not ask for anything more!

Going to the dentist is kinda like dating in NY. It's either gonna be painful and expensive or you're gonna click. If you prefer the latter, I really recommend Dr. Lim. For starters, his entire staff -- Julie and Bianca -- are genuinely friendly and very nice. Dr. Lim is also very personable and funny. I had two root canals done with him and not only did he explain the procedures to me in plain English, but during the RCs he kept checking to make sure I was ok and not in any pain. He has a lot of hi-tech gadgets like this water-based laser drill that 1)doesn't hurt and 2)doesn't hurt. Gadgets aside, his work is also top-notch. So if trips to the dentist make you nervous -- give Dr. Lim a try.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lim since 2004 and he is AMAZING!! He always spends as much time as he needs to while you are in his dentist chair to make sure you are satisfied with your results. I've had my teeth cleaned by him, wisdom teeth pulled, and even gotten my teeth bonded by him. I used to have those "vampire fangs" and whenever I smiled it looked like my teeth were chipped. Dr. Lim was able to make my smile so much more aesthetically pleasing and made sure I was perfectly pleased before he finished his work. He is an artist, and people's smiles are his canvas!

My silver fillings from years ago have worn, and they just seem to stand out every time I open my mouth. After Dr. Lim replaced them with tooth colored fillings, I no longer feel self-conscious about opening my mouth to laugh or speak because no one would be able to tell that I ever had fillings done. Dr, Lim is awesome! I met Dr. Lim in January'06. I knew that I had major oral problems that needed to be repaired in a very short time for my wedding in March '06. He removed my impacted wisdom tooth, performed a root canal on my front tooth, and replaced a porcelain veneer. These are considered very expensive dental procedures and Dr. Lim worked with me on my budget and time constraints. I've been with Dr. Lim since about the time he started in New York. He has a great "bedside manner", very calming and personable. His office is in a very central location, and has night and weekend appointments to handle the madness that is a new yorkers schedule. He also has all the latest gadgest, such as laser drills and computer x-ray, which really speed up the process and reduce the amount of pain, to the point that I haven't needed novicane since I started coming to him. I had two all-porcelain crowns installed on my front teeth. I had had an accident many years ago that I kept re-repairing with bonding. These new teeth are perfect--no more discoloration or chipping, and most importantly, I feel like I have natural teeth in my head for the first time since before the accident that damaged them 13 years ago. In addition, Dr. Lim removed areas of sensitivity elsewhere in my mouth using a laser, which was practically painless, even without novocaine. I have looked around for comparisons, and it appears that Dr. Lim charges relatively little for really top-notch work. Front teeth crowns are not exactly the type of work you want to award to the rock-bottom bidder; I was interested in getting the best work at any cost, yet Dr. Lim's prices are actually quite reasonable. His staff is very helpful and friendly, and they will expertly navigate your insurance claims.

I was not happy with my previous dentist (also at midtown Manhattan, very expensive for rather poor service) so I decided to give Dr. Lim a try, by the recomendation of a friend's friend. Dr. Lim replaced an old crown on my front tooth which wasn't done very nicely. There was a dark gray shading in the gum which affected the look of the tooth. The new tooth is unbelievably amazing looking. I was always afraid of having the tooth replaced because I wasn't sure anyone could make it look much better, but Dr. Lim has proved me wrong. He works with a lab that does an excellent job of matching the tooth color and Dr. Lim did an excellent job of designing the new tooth. Had my first dental appointment with Dr. Lim today. I had forgotten to ask him to prescribe anitbiotics so had to call and email him an hour and a half before my appointment. His receptionist Julia was extremely pleasant and quick to respond and she got Dr. Lim to call my pharmacist right away so I could get my prescription filled. Dr. Lim was very thorough in his exam of my teeth and gums, explaining clearly what he was doing. He then took digital x-rays (which minimizes radiation) and explained what the ex-rays showed. Excellent chair-side manner. His office is well equpped with digital equipment. I would highly recommend him for dental work.

His offices are conveniently located near Grand Central Station and his office hours are very conducive to a working New Yorker's schedule - including Saturday hours. Because Dr. Lim approached me sincerely and on a humanistic level, I recognized his capacity to understand what I was looking for in a Dentist: a professional who would listen to my questions and DISCUSS WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST APPROACH TO TREATMENT BEFORE STARTING, rather than do things the "old school" way and just stick all kinds of pointy torture devices into my mouth and ask me "Does this HURT?" while I scrape the word "YES" into the arm of the chair with my fingernail.

The difference with Dr. Lim is that he will ask those questions about your dental history and do those procedures that no other dentist does nor cares to do. I have had multiple dentists do work on my teeth. But when I got to Dr. Lim, he would ask about the work, and ask if they addressed this aspect or that, things that other dentists don't necessarily have to do, but Dr. Lim does because he is thorough. I went to see Dr. Lim after not having seen a dentist for several years. I've never had an easy time going to dentists because of memories of discomfort and I knew I had a few cavities needing filling.

Dr. Lim put me at ease and did excellent work using laser bonding. My teeth look great after he did numerous fillings and bonded a chipped tooth without any anesthesia. "The shot" in the gums was the thing I was fearing most and I was surprised I could have it done without it. The whole process was relatively painless and there was really very little discomfort to speak of! Not the experience I had grown accustomed to, to be sure. He also spent a greater deal more time talking to me than any of the other dentists I've seen in the past. He's a very high tech Dr too. He used video and digital Xrays to show me the condition of my teeth and discussing how to better care for them.

If you're looking for a skilled, knowledgable dentist who will take good care of you and really spend time putting you at ease, you can't do too much better. I will highly recommend Dr. Lim to anyone I know.

Dr. Lim is the best dentist I've been to in the NY area. I've gone to him for routine procedures and wisdom teeth removal. All procedures were done professionally with as little pain as possible.

What I enjoy most about Dr. Lim is his friendliness and communication skills. He answers all questions I have with sincerity and patience. He genuinely cares about making sure that the patient is comfortable and well informed regarding the work and procedure.

In addition, Dr. Lim also uses the latest technology in dentistry which makes me feel confident that he is utilizing the most advanced techniques in the field.

Overall, I am very pleased with Dr. Lim and wholeheartedly recommend him to those seeking a dentist.

I've tried several dentists in my area now and Stephen Lim is BY FAR the best. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, painless, and up to date on the latest techniques and technology (believe me, it makes a BIG difference). I would highly recommend anyone looking for a good dentist to check him out.

Seriously, this is an A+ caliber dentist for those lucky enough to have him on your health plan (even without, prices are definitely reasonable). He even reconstructed a chipped tooth I had (no other dentist has ever offered) and correctly diagnosed a condition I had (previously misdiagnosed by several dentists), and now have no pain in my teeth!

I've been through many dentists in my area and Stephen Lim is by FAR the best. I'd strongly recommend checking him out if you're looking for a good dentist -- extremely friendly and knowledgeable, painless procedures (didn't even need anethestic), clean facilities, cutting edge equipment and procedures (believe me, it makes a BIG difference).

Even got rid of pain I've had for years from sensitive teeth (incorrectly diagnosed by several dentists) and repaired a chipped tooth (that I didn't realize could even be done and no other dentist ever volunteered to fix). Make no mistake, this is definitely an A+ caliber dentist!

Went to him and had no clue what to expect. Amazing dentist. He's a laser dentist so I had no pain and didnt need to be numb while he did my 2 cavities. He put on a dolphin DVD movie which I watched as he did his thing. He's an NYU trained dentist and I highly recommend you try him. And unlike other dentist here, he's affordable. AFFORDABLE & DENTIST. I have no problems going back and now feel I found a great dentist.
