Dr Oliva is the sweetest, nicest guy. He's a skillful dentist with the best technologies and he really understands how to approach patient care. He takes time to get to know you and explain your procedures and calm your fears. I was totally avoiding the dentist for ages because I'd always had bad encounters but Dr Oliva really made me a believer. I recommend him to anyone looking for a kind and talented dentist in Manhattan.

Wonderful dentist - caring & very smart. Spa like atmosphere, even a hot towel when your procedure is complete! I highly recommend Dr Oliva he had done a few crowns and fillings on my teeth and they were pain free. The only downside is that he is quite expensive if he does not take your insurance.

My first visit with Dr. Oliva and his team was an unbelievable experience. Front desk reception personnel are top-notch. Dr. Oliva's dental hygenist is a pro. As for Dr. Oliva, he is personable, knowledgable, but most important, very honest. I had an experience a few years ago wherein my former dentist was very aggressive in performing a deep root scaling. Since that procedure, my right side has been very sensitive. I was afraid to see a dentist because I thought there was severe damage and that the cost to repair it was going to be astronomical. Dr. Oliva explained that with proper brushing and flossing, the problem would most likely be resolved. He even took the time to show me how to brush and floss! Where do you find that? Dr. Oliva's office is very clean and organized. And while you get the feeling you are in a spa, Dr. Oliva's practice of dentistry and medicine is very "old world" bringing you back to a time where doctors spoke and listened to their patients prior to making a diagnosis. Dr. Oliva's office is a haven. They strive to make their patients happy and succeed! It is a stress free experience in every sense. Dr. Oliva and his staff are incredibly kind, attentive and professional. They do excellent work, explain the processes you'll undergo, answer questions and make you feel very comfortable. In addition, they are helpful in dealing with insurance coverage, taking the time to explain things in detail and working with their patients to ensure they get the most out of their coverage. I can't say enough about Dr. Oliva and his team, they are truly wonderful.

About Hygienist: The hygenists at Dr. Oliva's office are an integral part of the experience. They do a very thorough job, talk to you about how to improve your dental health and put you at ease.

Finding a GOOD dentist is like trying to find a diamond in the rough...it's nearly impossible. Dr. Oliva truly is a precious gem! I was completely astonished at how professional, clean, and efficient his staff and office were. Unlike most dentists, Dr. Oliva actually CARES about your teeth and about you as a human being by taking as much time as YOU need to ask questions and discuss any concerns. He is fabulous and I recommend him to everyone.

About Hygienist: The hygienist was truly impressive. Unlike most who try to make artificial & pointless conversation with you during the procedure, they were focused and concentrated on getting the job done and done well -- allowing you to relax. They even took the time to discuss any questions I had. The soothing music, dimming of the lights, eye pillow (& option to remove shoes) was an added bonus and really made the visit extra special & enjoyable. A difficult feat accomplished with tremendous care & expertise!

I am very happy that I discovered Dr. Olvia. I have been to several dentists in the past and I have never encountered such expertise and professionalism from a dentist. Dr. Oliva interacts well with his patients and he did my dental implant and I have to admit I was a nervous wreck at first, but he told me that it would be a simple procedure! His office is very high tech and with relaxing music and his support staff is very friendly and accommodating. I will not go to another dentist, Dr. Oliva is the best!

I was born with the unfortunate scenario of never growing bottom adult frontal teeth. While some of my friends found this to be charming, as I have a very public job, this always caused me great consternation. I met Dr. Oliva through another friend that had used his services and have been so pleased and elated with the top-notch, high caliber, gleaming results. Not only did he fix my baby teeth with first temporary and then veneers, he also finished work that I was having done, not so successfully, at a dental university here in NYC. (Work that is to gruesome here to explain but work that was done superbly)

I should also add, that the aesthetic nature of the implants not only matched the hue of the rest of my natural teeth, they are seamless with my gums and unless you knew of the problem before hand one would never know they are not my own. Additionally, Dr. Oliva has excellent bed-side manner. He explains things in great detail that is easy to understand as he moves through the process of the procedure and what needs to happens in the next visits.

His staff is warm and kind and shows the utmost professionalism as well as enthusiasm and kindness. In particular, his mother that runs the front desk is full of wit

You'll wish you could stay for the weekend! I just returned from the Oliva "Spa"! What a terrific experience -- and, believe me, I have never said that before about a dentist! Super friendly, caring staff, and Dr. O, himself, is, in a word, fabulous. I have a complicated medical condition and for the first time in months I feel like I am being treated by someone who is truly competent and caring. Beyond the serious, though, this place is a lot of fun. Don't be put off by the midtown traffic and the somewhat hard to find front entrance. When the elevator doors open to the 6th floor you feel as if you have been transported to a kinder, gentler place. Zen-like, modernist furnishings, high, high tech equipment, aromatherapy, soft music, this is a better world. The 60 minute cleaning -- on a "dental bed" -- was amazingly gentle. When you stretch out, they cradle your head in a neck pillow, cover your eyes with a cool gel mask, and prop your knees up slightly with a wedge. AND ... all during this hour long process, I had my hands and feet massaged by a masseuse! Heaven. Absolute heaven. Oh, and best of all, my teeth haven't looked this good in years!

This is like a whole different dental experience. Dr. Oliva has a gorgeous office, the staff is super friendly and without giving away all the great surprises...go for a cleaning, it is a whole new level of dentistry. Dr. Oliva is my kind of dentist! Friendly, informative, knowledgeable,caring and very helpful.

He helped me with my root canal. It was the most painful feeling I have ever felt! I consulted with Dr. Oliva and he set me up with an appointment to do a procedure on my teeth. Everything turned out perfectly well. I've had the crown that he and his team set up for over 2 years now and I haven't had any issue so far. If there is one, I know Dr. Oliva will be there to help.

close attention to detail including headphones with soothing music and hot towels for a quick cleanup for your hands. Over all probably the best experience you can get at a Denist.

Dr. Oliva and his entire staff are nothing short of phenomenal. While it's an added plus to see a dentist in a spa like environment (soothing music on a personal headset, aromatherapy, warm towels, and a therapeutic eye mask) are just the beginning, even more impressive is how much time Dr. Oliva spends with his patients. He tells one exactly what is going on with his/her teeth, recommends the most economic solutions, and his hygenist does hands down the most thorough cleaning a patient could ask for. Truly, I can't imagine why anyone in New York would see another dentist.

After speaking with him for a bit, it is very apparent that Dr. Oliva really cares that you learn how your teeth work, and what you need to do to care for them properly. I was very impressed by the use of digital photography and digital x-rays to show me almost instantly what was going on with my teeth.

I was very scared to get my teeth cleaned (it had been a while) but the hygenist was excellent. I came back several weeks later to have four fillings done. They look and feel great. My teeth and gums have probably never been in better shape.

The environment here is very zen inspired and relaxing which was an entirely new experience for me at a dentist's office.

I was also impressed that Dr. Oliva was able to immediately tell me how much the fillings would cost. With my insurance coveing 80% of the work, it was much less than I had anticipated to have my teeth checked out and repaired.

I have been suffering with loose dentures forever , and after Dr Oliva explained to me about Implant Overdentures it gave so much hope. I use to put adhesives on my dentures almost every hour it was so frustrating. The procedures was nothing like i imagined it was actually finihed in just an hour and the result was 100 times better. Dr. Oliva is my kind of perfectionist--better than a "hollywood smile" aka synthetically flawless, he gave me my ideal smile. It had been particularly tricky having my three front teeth veneered and get them to match the rest uncannily. Dr. Oliva managed it masterfully (and without much pain. Having gone through eleven dentists before him, I can say I know from pain). It took several visits, as Dr. Oliva wouldn't settle until he achieved the ideal result, and it's all been worth it. My veneers look so natural, almost like I was born with this smile that I feel absolved of all my dental sins! I vouch for what the others say about the experience with Dr. Oliva being akin to a partnership, and that extends to his staff as well! They always make me feel cared for.

I had my first visit with Dr Oliva, and I can tell everybody that this is probably the BEST! dental visit i had EVER!, Yes , he is extremely NICE, very thorough with his explanations, and actually thought me alot of ways to keep my teeth cleaned, Nobody gave me a full hour , EVER, for a hygiene visit, Dr Oliva did. Dr. Sonny is awesome. He did took my wisdom teeth out and, although I cannot say that it was a pleasant experience, he did it so that I wouldn't be all worried and suffering from the pain. He told me everything that he would do and that I would feel so that there would be no surprises, which was very helpful and helped me feel more at ease.

My favorite is when I go in for checkups and cleanings, it's such a nice experience because they don't just focus on your teeth, they try to make you feel as comfortable as possible with music so you don't have to hear those terrible drilling noises, a cover for your eyes so you don't have to stare at the bright light, and a pillow for your head and legs so you can just relax.

Now, I don't dread going to the dentist like I used to.

Recently I received my first filling. Sonny and his hygienists were so wonderful before, during and after the procedure. Sonny explained everything he was about to do before starting and told me when I might experience pressure allowing me to stay completely at ease. I shopped around considerably to find a dentist I was comfortable with to undergo Invisalign treatment. Thank god I found Dr Oliva - he is amazing! Unlike other dentists, Dr Oliva is very thorough and explains everything to you in depth - from the cost, procedure, pros, cons, results etc. I usually hate going to the dentist but the doctor and his staff make it as pleasurable an experience as possible, I don't even mind going to the dentist anymore. I made it a point to recommend him to all of my friends and colleagues. I have just begun my Invisalign treatment and am confident that I will be thrilled with the results. If there was an infomercial about Dr O. I'd go on it in a heartbeat - he is that good!!

I am terrified by the idea of sitting on a dentist chair due to some terrible experiences. As soon as I walked into Dr. Oliva's office, the staff put me at ease, they are very friendly and they are also very accomodating for appointments.

As for Dr. Oliva, he is the BEST dentist I ever had. He is one of the nicest person I met in NY and he truly loves he job. He is very knowledgeable, I felt no pain at all - when he gave me a shot, I did not even feel it, treatments were completely painless.

His entire staff is great, Geraldine, his assistant, peformed the best cleaning I ever had, they are all very helpfull.I am going to get implants, which would have scared me before Dr. Oliva, but I know he will do a great job. He also adds little services that really make a difference: never before was I handed a warm towel, lip balm, and hand cream.

He does not force any treatment on you, just make the right recommendation in order to ensure you have a healthy smile.

I recommend Dr. Oliva to anyone who is looking for a dentist in NY, he is the best you will find, I do not have enough words to describe how good he and his staff are. I cannot thank him enough, now going to the dentist is not scary anymore, I almost look forward to it.

Like many other people, I have been to the dentist plenty of times but have never actually looked forward to it. Until now that is. Dr. Oliva provides the best patient experience I have ever encountered, by either a dentist or physician. In the past, aside from regular cleanings, I have had braces, fillings, and my wisdom teeth extracted. None of my experiences were met with the same care as was with Dr. Oliva and his staff. It sounds odd to say but you really do feel like you are at a spa, complete with the cool gel placed over your eyes, neck pillow, music, gum massage, warm face towel, and hand lotion before leaving. More importantly, aside from these amenities, Dr. Oliva takes the time to explain exactly what procedures he is going to employ, why he recommends one procedure over another, and follows through swiftly but very gently.

I highly recommend him.

I've been a patient of Dr Oliva since he was a student at NYU, and even then i feel that he is by far the BEST dentist i've had.I can remember at one point that even his Clinical Director was his patient. Imagine a Senior Clinical Director being worked on by a student. He was considered by all of his professors to be the best they have seen , hi works are impeccable even then, and i would not be surprised that all of his patients are pleasantly finding this out. The veneers that he put on me and all the fillings that he did are doing really well, NO PAIN from the day he put it, Great hands, and excellent bedside manners. And he carried all of this to his private practice, his staff is wonderfull, from the moment you walk in you feel that they will make your experience as pleasant and as stress free as possible. i have recommended Dr Oliva to my family and i to all my friend and they are all saying the same thing. Everything about Dr. Oliva's practice is top-notch, from the greeting you get when you come in the door to the service provided by Dr. Oliva. The whole atmosphere is far superior to the typical dentist's office -- the goal of the entire staff is to make the patient feel comfortable. Procedures are thoroughly explained and Dr. Oliva makes extensive use of photographs of the patient's mouth to explain exactly what is going to happen. The teeth cleaning experience is exactly as described by other posts: you actually feel refreshed and relaxed afterwards, not tense and irritable as I usually do after a cleaning.

I never thought that I can be treated by a Dentist who not only have absolutely tremendous attention to details but also has an over-all treatment plan that secures my personal input based on my preference and comfort level. Dr. Oliva has a caring manner of re-directing my own personal preference to what is best for me through in-depth discussion and participation, as compared to my prior Dentist who simply tells me what should be done. Most importantly, Dr. Oliva has gentle hands who takes great pains in "perfecting" any dental tasks. He is also compassionate who will work with you on the payment of his fees.

Dr. Sonny Oliva is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! ALL my life I have been so afraid of dentist. I use to cry just thinking about it. To tell you the truth I was so afraid of dentist that I avoided them at all possible means. Because of this fear I ended up having to get a root canal.

Thank God I met Dr. Sonny. He has a magical touch. He was so caring, gentle and explained step by step what to expect. I can't thank him enough for healing me and taking such great care of me. I have found the number one dentist in the world!!! I recommend him to everyone!!!

Now I am a changed person. I love going to see the dentist because I know I am in the best hands. His staff is also so great and gentle. I always walk out with a smile on my face. It is truly a miracle come true! Once you are treated by him you will know exactly what I mean.

What sets Dr. Oliva apart from other dentists (and even doctors I might add), other than being very competent at what he does (I've had fillings, and a root canal procedure where I did not feel pain as expected, plus the crown looked very real), is the emphasis that he puts in making your visit as pleasant and painless as can be from the moment you step into that door, no matter how simple the procedure. The clinic is very welcoming, the facilities are new and clean---in fact, more improvement is on the way. The hygienists are skilled, very nice and have excellent chair-side manners. There are also the added perks that you would otherwise not expect from a dental clinic, but more importantly, Dr. Oliva takes the time to explain, and listen to his patients' needs. It makes you feel cared for. Need I say more? I have found my dentist.

I'm in my senior years and have lost a lot of teeth due to lack of dental planning. Had I been treated with the kind of dental treatment plan I am undergoing through now under Dr Oliva, I would have saved most of my teeth in my middle age years. Meeting Dr Oliva, upon recommendation from my brother in the spring of 2005, put a smile in my face and the rest of my family. My wife and daughters say..."He is our favorite doctor, even better than our medical doctor". He is an honest and sincere person and dealing with him gives you the trust of being treated by a very educated dentist who makes sure his patients get the advanced dental procedures and come out of their treatment chair satisfied and smiling.

He is exceptional in every detail and a master of art in dentistry. This morning, I had a tooth extracted, in preparation for a major restorative project. I felt like I had a tooth pulled by a magician. He picked my tooth with a tissue and to my surprise, I asked him, "how did you do that". He simply smiled, and said "I was taught and trained by the most respected dental professors and best dentist in the US, respectively".

Dr Oliva is one in a million, his attention to detail is by far the best i have seen, from the smallest filling that he did on me to the more extensive root canal that we did, he takes his time to explain and makes me feel comfortable and relaxed.I didn't even feel a single ounce of pain. And yes his staff is wonderfull, the amenities is something you would not expect from a dental office but more from a Spa, from the scented towels to the hand lotion , the leg and neck pillows and the soothing music, i don't think i've been more excited for a dental appointment, and did i say his dental creations are impeccable,he even puts grooves and fine details on my fillings.thank you Dr Oliva for all the work that you did for me.

Dr. Oliva and the office staff are friendly and polite. The office is very comfy. I love the warm towel that they offer after treatment (no dentist office offers that kind of service, they dont care if you feel yucky and uncomfortable after u get splash by all those things that they used for cleaning) the best!

When he promise you a good smile at the end, you will really be pleased with the result.

What can I say but when Dr. Oliva promised you a good smile at the end of the treatment, he keeps his words. He make sure that before you leave his office that broken smile will be fixed. Describing his work...." BEST" is the only word i can think of.

Warm greeting and friendly smile from him and his staff makes you feel relax and comfortable and of course not to mention the gum massage, warm towel and lotion at the end of the treatment. If there's a place called a health spa, a visit to his office can be called a dental spa.

There are no words to describe Dr. Oliva's skill, dedication, his love for his profession and care for his patients. When extracting a wisdom tooth and treating two root canals would have been a stressfull experience, Dr Oliva makes as pleasant as it can be. During the treatment period any time I had pain of infection, help was a phone call away. One of my teeth was very badly infected and broken and almost had to be removed but Dr. Oliva thought that it could be saved. I got to keep my tooth and with the crown that was put, it doesn't feel like I had any problem in that side of my mouth.

The office environment is very friendly and the dental hygienists are well trained and skillfull. I am very fortunate to have found Dr. Oliva and will not have to look for another dentist ever. I recommend him to my friends, colleagues and family. I am looking forward to my next check up.

I have been seeing Dr. Sonny Oliva now for over two years. Without a doubt this is the best dental practice I have visited (and I have seen a few dentists!)

The practice is like a spa with a friendly, helpful and dedicated staff, who are always welcoming and attentive. The practice facilities are bright, clean and restful and the hot facial towels after each treatment are always a wonderful way of finishing any procedure.

The staff are always happy, cheery and efficient who put you at ease. I have always had painless treatments and the results I have had so far are by far excellent in comparison with some of the dentists I have visited.

I have never had to wait longer than 30 minutes to see Sonny Oliva and he explains all treatments and procedures in detail in user friendly language. His attention to detail and professionalism are excellent and because it is a Family Practice my whole family will be attending.

I highly recommend Dr Sonny Oliva.

I'am so glad i found this website so i can tell you about my WONDERFULL Dentist! I have been to several "High End NY Cosmetic Dentist " for my cosmetic consultation and thank God I made the RIGHT DECISION to have my veneers with Dr Oliva. Dr Oliva is brimming with passion with regards to his craft. He is extremely knowlegable and very friendly . He and his staff really made me feel comfortable, from the neck pillows to the freshly scented warm towels and hand lotions, he always make it a point to put his patients first. He did 12 veneers on me , 8 on top and 4 on the bottom, i probably would have gone for more but he really convinced me to be more conservative and i think we made the right decision, he did not PUSH any treatment on me , he gave me all my options and laid out all its Pro's and Cons, very honest and reasonably priced. I have recommended him to all my friends two of them already went to him and they all say the same thing , thank God for Dr. Oliva

I came to Dr. Oliva in dire need of dental help. I had crowns done previously, and my mouth was a mess. Dr. Oliva fixed everything, both aesthetic and medical. He was great.
