Patient Review 1:

After procrastinating the removal of painful Wisdom Teeth, I found this office online. I must have been divinely guided for 5 days later, I have finally taken care of it! The office is lovely and conveniently located. The professional staff is immediately friendly and helpful. I found the atmosphere there very relaxing and felt an immediate trust in the sincerity of Dr. Calat and his entire staff. They went out of their way to insure my comfort and I feel very grateful to them for taking such great care of me! I will trust them with any and all future work I may need and would highly recommend their services to anyone! Sincerely, Lynn Ellis

Patient Review 2:

My wisdom teeth were completely encased in bone and one of the wisdom teeth was dangerously close to a nerve due to its deep roots. Dr Calat recommended to do one side at a time and we removed the first two in February. He actually called to see how I was doing because my teeth are quite tough and he had to work to get them out. I was pain free, I never used the pain killers he prescribed. We just removed the other side last week. This was the side that was close to the nerve. I'm happy to report the operation was a complete success again. I guess I can say I had a little bit of pain but I only used a couple pain killers. Dr Calat has a very nice demeanour and put me at ease each time I spoke to him. His staff are very nice as well. The office has a nice setup...he has his own CT scan machine which really sped up the process. I would recommend him to anyone for wisdom teeth extraction. One caveat - I can't really effectively comment on the cost of the operations as I didn't shop around. My dentist recommended Dr Calat as a surgeon and I took his word for it. But at the end of the day, I had two pain free operations in a comfortable setting. What else is there to say. Thank you Dr Calat!

Patient Review 3:

I recently had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr Calat. Even though I had extreme fear of the procedure he made me feel very calm and safe and explained everything well to me.I had an IV Sedation of Valium and can remember nothing of the procedure and felt no pain afterwards. The swelling is minimal to none. Which must say something about his skill as a surgeon, as my friends told me they had a lot of swelling after similar procedures. Dr Calat is a true pro and would not hesitate in recommending him to my friends or anyone else who needed a dental operation. Incidentally, this is the first time i've ever been prompted to write an online review about how good something is, which should say something about the experience I had :)Also, the atmosphere of the office is great and the other staff are all friendly, welcoming and do their best to make you feel calm and relaxed.Sam

Patient Review 5:

It took me 2 years to decide to get my implant done because nobody could recommend an Oral Surgeon that I felt comfortable with. After a little research in the internet and because of the reviews in this site I decided to have a consultation appointment with Dr. Calat, it was a Wednesday and by Friday it was done...it has been 5 months since I have the procedure done... Every person that works there is absolutely wonderful; Dr. Calat is extremely professional and so is the rest of his team. The facilities are impeccable and he even has his own MRI machine so you don't loose time going elsewhere. The procedure was painless, no pain killers only a couple of Advil. Believe me, I have seen many dentists and Oral Surgeons in my life and I can only say that Dr. Calat is by far #1. I certainly will come back to have my wisdom tooth removed!

Patient Review 6:

After a weekend spent battling an excruciating (and, I would later learn, serious) infection in an impacted wisdom tooth, I found Dr. Calat online and, based on his many positive reviews, I made an appointment for first thing Monday morning, though I was VERY anxious about the procedure. All of my anxiety started to fade away the second I arrived at the office, despite learning that all four of my wisdom teeth needed to be removed. Every member of the staff was friendly, willing to answer all of my questions, and very gentle. Dr. Calat himself could not possibly have been nicer-- he took the time to explain every step of the procedure, particularly the steps that I was nervous about (I was absolutely terrified of being put under), and when the surgery started I felt completely at ease. I fell asleep laughing.I woke up groggy, but in no pain, and now, 4 days later, have had no swelling and very minimal soreness. I've received both calls and emails from Dr. Calat and his staff checking up on my progress and asking how I'm feeling, something no doctor has ever done for me before. My friends and colleagues are all shocked at how fine i am. I'm looking forward to my follow up appt. so that I can express my gratitude in person!!

Patient Review 8:

Dr. Calat installed 3-dental implants to recover my 3-missing top-front teeth on Oct. 12 '07. The procedure lasted about 45-minutes or close to an hour - I have chosen to be awake during the entire procedure. It wasn't painful at all since I was given shots of anesthetics before the procedure began - I would have been given more shots if the novocaine started wearing out and if i started feeling the pain but I never needed those extra shots of novocaine. Dental implants are expensive since my Dental insurance didn't cover them - I don't know why? Luckyly, at Dr. Calat's clinic, they are offering financing at 0% interest for a year for the procedure. The staff of Dr. Calat are professionals - they are excellent at what they do. From the front desk to the chair-side technicians - I had a pleasant experience with them. I'm very happy with my whole experience during the installation of my dental implants at Dr. Calat's clinic. I would recommend Dr. Calat to anyone considering having dental implant(s) installed.C. Patient Review 10:

Dr. Calat came recommended through my primary dentist. I needed to have my impacted wisdom teeth removed. A procedure I had been putting off for many years due to my oral pain phobias! I had waited for more than six months to schedule my wisdom tooth extraction after my initial consultation only to have realized I had wasted time for nothing. The staff never came off as judgmental or impatient. I was done in less than an hour, I awoke with virtually no pain or bleeding. I had zero swelling and was able to commence normal eating habits in a about a week. What a warm and professional staff at Mid-Manhattan Oral Surgery. From the front desk staff who answered all of many questions to Dr. Calat who embraced my anxious yammering with the upmost patience. Any fears I may have had were gone before my appointment and I owe them a great many thanks for reducing my overall fears with oral surgery. Mid-Manhattan Oral Surgery gives new meaning to the phrase "pulling teeth!" I would highly recommend Mid Manhattan Oral Surgery for anyone wanting a relaxing environment and professional staff for a not-so-relaxing procedures. M. Ovalle

Patient Review 11:

My experience with Dr. Calat was wonderful. He and his staff are very friendly, and most importantly they placed my well being at the center of the relationship. Now a few months after the dental implants and reconstructive bone surgery, the front of my mouth feels natural, and my jaw whole again. My dentist, as he checked out Dr. Calat's work to fit me for crowns, described the dental implants as perfect. In looking at the x-ray of my jaw, there is not even a mark where there once was a hole. Without reservation I recommend Dr. Calat and his staff for dental implants.

Simply amazing!!I had been ignoring a half decayed half impacted wisdom tooth for over three years. Exposed nerves and all. My last experience with an oral surgeon just 7 years ago was "knees on the chest / medieval". The combination of Dr. Paul's calming demeanor, his absolute expertise and the technology that has progressed so much recently added up to a completely painless experience.Thank you Dr. Paul.

Patient Review 14:

I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed on 12/7/07 while under sedation. I can honestly say the procedure was fast, and painless. When I left the office I had no pain for that day,or the next. Had some minor irritation, but that has pretty much subsided. I'm 47 years old, and thought that having the aforementioned extraction would be a major ordeal.I was wrong on that count. part of which can be attributed to Dr. Calat's expertise as a surgeon, and the other part as a humanistic clinician who combinds the technical aspects of his craft with the moral. Additionally, his dedicated staff not only enhance the performance of Dr Calat's practice, but raise it to a level which other practitioner's of oral surgery should aspire to.

Patient Review 15:

I have a very extreme case as a result of my dental phobia for the last 15 years. This came back to haunt me, as I ended up with a brain abcess not so long ago as a result, which resulted in a craniotomy, paralysis (I recovered, thank God) and a horrific rehabilitation. So, now I no longer had a choice in avoiding that phobia. I chose Dr. Calat after reading many glowing reviews, and I couldn't be happier. From the getgo, everyone involved is beyond friendly, attentive, and concerned with all aspects from treatment to payment. Dr. Calat was very kind, sincere, gentle, understanding, and quickly put any fears of mine at ease. I had 6 extractions done there, all perfectly I might add, under sedation. The procedure couldn't have been easier, and they made it so smooth it's as if it never happened.Dr. Calat even phoned me personally that night to be sure I was okay, which to me seems unheard of. He even recommended a regular dentist for me for all the other work I need to have performed. Everyone that works there is like extended family, they are so nice I wanted to ask them if they knew they were in New York. I only wish Dr. Calat could do all the work, I would gladly go to him for everything. Thanks Dr. Calat!

Patient Review 16:

It's hard to capture in a simple ratings system what makes an oral surgeon -- or any doctor for that matter -- one that you'd recommend. Especially with dental work, so much of what's important is how comfortable the surgeon and his staff can make you feel. Dr. Calat has been wonderful in this regard, as have the people in his office. Someone who's able to help answer your questions and calm your concerns helps put your mind at ease, and helps make the entire process what it should be. I'm grateful to have found him.

I recommend Dr.Calat very highly. I came in for a dental implant and he was very patient with my concerns and questions. I had the procedure done and was treated with care by Calat as well as his staff. After the procedure he called me the next day to see how I was doing. I had this done about 3 weeks ago and had relatively no pain. Dr.Calat also was very kind to go over with costs and recommend ways of payment. Once again I can't stress strong enough how accomodating he was with any questions I had and did not push me to make a quick decision. If you are planning to have a dental implant done, again I highly recommend Dr.Calat.

Patient Review 19:

I had two wisdom tooth extractions done by Dr. Calat in the past 6 months. During the initial consultation he went over the panoramic xray with me, thoroughly explained everything, and patiently answered all my questions. His staff was also very courteous and comforting. The first extraction was done with local anesthesia and the second one with sedation. In both cases healing period was about 10 days, and relatively painless (I didn't even take painkillers).Dr. Calat was very cooperative and helpful with my insurance claims. He even waived the fee for cyst removal, which my medical insurance didn't cover as he's the out of network doctor. He also wrote a note to my dental insurance company explaining why sedation was necessary so I get reimbursed for it. It was definitely worth going to his office even if he's out of my insurance network and paying 10% more than I would pay at the "in network" provider.Front desk is very responsive and courteous. Facilities are very clean, modern, relaxing, and conveniently located.I highly recommend Dr. Calat as an oral surgeon. He is competent, cooperative, and has a pleasant personality. He is easily reachable for emergencies. D.N.
